Connect to Your Data

You can connect to and access data from a variety of sources, including lakehouse catalogs, object storage, and databases. Dremio data virtualization provides a unified foundation for data exploration and analytics.

Catalogs

Every Dremio project includes a native Open Catalog, powered by Apache Polaris. You can connect additional Open Catalogs from other projects and the following external catalogs:

• AWS Glue Data Catalog
• Google Cloud Lakehouse Catalog
• Iceberg REST Catalog
• Snowflake Open Catalog
• Unity Catalog

Object Storage

Dremio supports Amazon S3 and Azure Storage as object storage services.

Databases

You can connect directly to the data in your databases and query data from across your enterprise. In addition, you can run external queries:

• That use the native syntax of the relational database.
• To process SQL statements that are not supported by Dremio or are too complex to convert.

Private Networking

By default, when you connect Dremio to data sources, the connection uses public networking. If Dremio has enabled private source connectivity for your organization, you can use AWS PrivateLink for supported database sources.
