Creating Dataflows
There are three stages in the process of creating a dataflow:
- Connect from Power BI Service to your Dremio Software cluster.
- Select the data to use in the dataflow, transform it, and save it as a dataflow.
- Provide credentials to authorize datasets that are based on the dataflow to connect to your cluster.
If you want viewers of reports that are based on those datasets to connect to your cluster by using Single Sign-On (SSO), you can also enable SSO when you provide the credentials. However, in stage 1, you must have selected the Dremio Cloud connector when selecting the connector to use to connect from Power BI Service to your cluster.
In Stage 1 of creating a dataflow, Power BI Service can connect to Dremio Software through the Dremio Cloud connector or through the Dremio Software connector. Only the Dremio Cloud connector allows you to enable SSO.
However, the Dremio Software cluster that you connect to by using the Dremio Cloud connector must meet these requirements:
- TLS must be enabled.
- Microsoft Entra ID authentication must be enabled.
Accordingly, there are two different procedures for creating dataflows:
-
Creating Dataflows by Using the Dremio Cloud Connector
Follow these steps if you want to enable SSO for reports that will be based on datasets that are created from your dataflows. -
Creating Dataflows by Using the Dremio Software Connector
Follow these steps if you do not want to enable SSO for reports that will be based on datasets that are created from your dataflows.
